  • Ask Open-Ended Questions: Start the conversation with open-ended questions that invite the other person to share more about themselves. Avoid questions that can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no" or one-word answer. Instead, inquire about their interests, experiences, or opinions on current events.

  • Listen Actively: Pay close attention to what the other person is saying. Show genuine interest by nodding, maintaining eye contact, and asking follow-up questions based on their responses. 

     

  • Find Commonalities: Look for shared interests or experiences that you can both relate to and have something to talk about. Whether it's a mutual acquaintance, a hobby, a recent news story, or the latest movie, finding common ground can help establish rapport and foster a deeper connection.
